Upstanders Challenge Partner Edition Overview

In honor of Upstanders Season 2, the Starbucks Foundation is launching the “Upstanders Challenge Partner Edition” to celebrate charities that are making a difference in their communities. The Foundation will award two (2) $25,000 grants to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the US.

How to participate

  1. Create a short video that explains what makes your favorite charity an “Upstander.” Be sure to say the name of the charity you are nominating and how it creates positive change in your community. Videos should be 2 minutes or less and do not need to be highly produced – shooting them on your phone is great. But be creative!

  2. Upload your video to this challenge page. Be sure to follow the instructions during the upload process to properly select your charity. You will receive an email from Indi when your video has been approved for posting, which could take up to 24 hours.

  3. Start generating “Buzz” across social media and tell your followers you’ve entered your favorite charity in a contest.

     • Share Share from this page into Social ; and

     • Have your friends watch, like Like and share your video on Indi and social media!

Note: Charities are not limited to one video. Encourage other supporters of the charity to upload their own videos and generate Buzz to contribute to the overall team score for that charity. The charities that generate the most aggregate Buzz will become finalists.

Prizes and Determination of Winners

A panel of judges will select 2 winning charities to receive a $25,000 grant out of the top 10 Buzz-getting charities. Judging will be based on the following criteria: 40% based on the inspiration of the organization's story, 40% based on the community impact of the organization, and 20% based on the creativity of videos submitted for each organization. Winners will be determined and announced by Nov 30, 2017.

Challenge Rules and Terms:

Challenge activity is voluntary. Partners will not be paid for participation. A purchase of goods and services is not required and will not increase your chances of winning. You will be required to agree to the official Upstanders Challenge Rules prior to uploading. The Challenge Rules, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are also available in the PDF documents below.
